If you watched the premiere of HBO’s “John From Cincinnati” last night, you may understand the title of this post. In case not, let me explain…
One quick scene showed a girl sending a message from a mobile phone. When paused, you could see she was sending an e-mail to “Lincstark@stinklead.com”. As soon as I paused it and saw that, I checked to see what was on www.stinklead.com. Surprisingly nothing. I checked the WHOIS database to see who owned the domain. Again, surprisingly nobody. So I proceeded to register the domain, just for fun. Right before I submitted my order, I decided against it. I already have enough domains that I registered “just for fun” and have done nothing with.
I decided to check the availability of the domain this morning, to see if anybody else grabbed it. Sure enough, someone has. Now I wish I had, even if just to see how may people visit it. How many of us look deep into the details?
I’m amazed that HBO or some other company involved with the production didn’t register the domain.
